Using Markov chains to create chatterbots is nothing new -- they've been on IRC for years -- but there are some particularly entertaining ones on twitter these days. Many of you know about @horse_ebooks, for example. But how many of you know about the unmistakably hilarious, indistinguishable-from-the-source-material @zizek_ebooks? Markov chatterbots may have met their match in Slavoj Zizek's peculiar brand of ranting.

The Great Debate: What is the philosophy behind The Matrix? Is it Gnosticism? Buddhism? Islam? Is the correct psychological interpretation Jungian, or should one look to Lacan? Does the film promote Christianity, or is it, like Star Wars, anti-Christian? What would Joseph Campbell think? Even the official site has its own set of opinions.

In 1996 physicist Alan Sokal wrote an article for the prestigious post-structuralist literary journal "Social Text" in which he claimed that all of physics is relative to the observer . It was a hoax -- intended by Sokal to highlight the liberal intelligentsia's drift away from social issues and toward navel-gazing. There was just a little acrimony.

While anarchy.org almost seems like any oxymoron, anarchy.com is downright distasteful. It's not surprising to come across some porn, but the only logical top-level domain is still available There's always anarchy.gov, now there's a web site I'd like to see.

When Ayn Rand asked who John Galt was, she probably meant it rhetorically and didn't mean this guy. And she certainly didn't mean this guy.

Dee Hock is the man with a plan, creating the VISA network which is more Bazaar than Temple in structure. Such an organization is named chaordic and defines an entire business philosophy that borders on the metaphysical. Dee has spent a number of years teaching his gospel, and there are fine examples of his point of view, how VISA evolved, and some implications of chaordic institutions for the future. In the past five years the technically minded press, for example Fast Company, have reported on his ideas, and his recently released book has made excellent reviews. Apparently, others have taken up the slack and the concept is proving to be more than a buzzword emerging from the fractal-crazed late 1980s.

This Berkeley taxi driver has a lot to say about "Non-escalating Verbal Self-Defense". Too thought-provoking to toss in with the rest of the Wackos, despite its undeniable bouquet of wackiness.
