While we're talking about making your own Star Wars movie, be sure to check out the 100% original Duality, made by two guys on just a a couple of Macs.

Consider Spillway a small wholesaler of the absurd. By far the best part of their site is the People's Photo Archives, a collection of found photographs, all of which contain a certain level of humor and eerieness. Sit back, pretend you're an anthropologist from the future and don't miss the hilarious commentary.

MMF Hall of Humiliation, the site the "Internet Multi Level Marketing Entrepreneurs" hate, has returned the network after two years of cobwebs! I hope to see more chain letter spammer ridiculing and related poetry from now on...

Why does anyone use The Weather Channel's weather.com? It's annoying for the same reasons as moviephone, just not as bad. Yahoo! has a much more restrained and useful weather service (and better movie times, too), but the Weather Underground is better still. They seem to actually want to tell you about the weather, not sell ad space. They've even kept the old UMich telnet service running---no banner ads! But what do you expect from people who name themselves after a bunch of wacko Communists?

Some of my friends collect used arcade games for their apartments. I was thinking about going to an auction, but then I found something even better.

OSHA Hazard Communication standards require that labs and workplaces make Material Safety Data Sheets for potentially hazardous chemicals available to their employees. Somehow, these MSDSs for lethal nerve agents like VX, Sarin, and others seem beside the point.

Sock Monkey is a kinder but still violent (and purchaseable) version of Maakies. See the comic or even a movie.

Bummed about Buffy moving to UPN? No affiliate in your area? You could read the Buffy comic book. Also, Joss Whedon, Buffy's creator, is writing a new comic book that is essentially Buffy in the Future.

I never really liked the word zine, aside from a select few articles the whole thing just sorta bored me. Nontheless there was one feature that kept me coming back every Tuesday - the comics! Actually, just one of them, Maakies. The adventures of Drinky Crow & pals live on!

PBS's Frontline: Merchants of Cool investigation shows how corporations create and monopolize cultural trends. The teen interview section is very telling, they seem to know they're being manipulated but still go along for the ride.

People have been trying to predict the stock market for as long as the stock itself has been around. As futile as these attempts have been, people keep trying, most recently with machine learning or function approximation techniques. Now, however, there is a better way.. take lots and lots of drugs.

There's another way to be invisible: try to get a taxicab if you have dark skin. Even Yaphet Kotto can't get a cab.

This fall cable subscribers everywhere will be treated to a new television series version of the Neverending Story. Presumably it will consist of totally new stories, if only because the producers would want to milk the cash-cow as long as possible. Meanwhile, fans of the original movie can content themselves with the musings of loyal fans across the globe.

Best likened to a literary bulldog tearing into the groin of conspicuous consumerism and cultural decadence, The Baffler magazine's offices were recently razed by a fire (along with those of the equally worthy Blackstone Bike Co-op). Please give 'em a hand.
