HubbleSite has information and some stunning pictures from everyone's favorite (formerly a bit near-sighted) space telescope. The wallpapers alone are worth the visit, and the pages on inner workings of the telescope are particularly interesting.

Many Finnish children's programs get dubbed for export. Most of the dubs are good, but some are not so good, particularly those from a company called "Agapio Racing Team". Here's some serious evidence why some movies and TV programs should not get dubbed.

Sometimes, musicians want to make computer games (or cheap facsimiles of thereof) about their music; Sometimes they make music videos that look somewhat like video games. But (aside of professional game musicians, of course), few make "videogame-like music" that would go to market - especially if it's not connected to any particular game. Jukka Tarkiainen, a Finnish electronic musician, has now released his first CD - and couple of the tracks are also available for download. He even has a hilarious music video that is very videogame-like in spite of being mostly live-action...

There have been various efforts to modernize the games of the Ultima game series, or to make them run on modern machines. The latest, and admittedly pretty nice-looking reworking of these classics is Ultima IV: The Dawn of Virtue, which based on screenshots looks like sort of cross-breed of Ultima IV and Baldur's Gate, made by the same guy who made Falcon's Eye graphics patch for Nethack.

You may remember that by downloading MP3s, you're downloading communism. But now that Napster has "sold out", if you pay for your mp3s, you're rockin' out with The Man! (By the way, if you think that this sort of propaganda only works in parodies, think again...)

MMF Hall of Humiliation, the site the "Internet Multi Level Marketing Entrepreneurs" hate, has returned the network after two years of cobwebs! I hope to see more chain letter spammer ridiculing and related poetry from now on...

Star Wreck by Samuli Torssonen is what I would call a truly dedicated Star Trek parody. It started from bad computer animations, then moved to semi-decent 3D stuff and finally to the realm of live action and rather cool 3D stuff, with a full length DVD release expected later this year...

Back before the Internet revolutionarized the distribution of pr0n, people made naughty games and demos for Commodore 64... but I will always remember the Leather Goddesses of Phobos.

After some moments of confusion, Zany Video Game Quotes has returned the network. It has a lot of new quotes, golden classics, and naturally the stuff you're probably sick of hearing by now.

An interesting application of steganography: SpamMimic turns the super-secret messages into something that looks like spam.

Arrgh. Now that The Wave is out, I feel I've found the coolest web platform ever devised - my very own Commodore 64! Sadly, I can't afford an afterburner or a cool GUI right now, both of which are required...

Suffering from an overdose of popular net games? Try text adventures via applets. (But then again, MUDs are more fun when you're online). Or try Slashdot Quest - Just to show that one doesn't need clumsy stuff like Java, Flash or even CGI to make or play cool web games.

I thought the fundamentalist Christian assault against D&D had died down (after several miserable failures to prove their point), but apparently they can't stop making "well-researched" articles. In related news, Jack T. Chick has finally published his viewpoint on this issue.

A few months ago I noticed people are still using Rexx to build dynamic web pages. Plausible. Today I heard of something more, er, sinister: CobolScript®! Just see how this baby threatens Perl's omnipresence and elegance!

Popular music these days is in a sad state. Signs are obvious, I hope. Every time Art turns into an Industry, it's hard for the good stuff to rise from beneath the drivel. Well, at least we still have J. S. Bach (who just got a more or less nice, new website for himself).

Some fox mythology and history: The Shinto god Inari has white foxes as messengers and guardians. There's also a town called Inari in Finnish Lapland and the local nature seems to have a certain interesting species too - This can't be just a coincidence.

I just got a new Commodore 64, and I have been writing down some dream descriptions with it. Anyway, Trans64 program seems to bomb these days, so I have to OCR the text, often with varying results. Well, I don't blame C64. The machine supports wonderful philosophy and can do pretty amazing things like web serving even at this great age.
